Please join us this Sunday at 10:30am for our service “Stories Can Save Us” presented by Mary Alice Dillman.

This title rejects Orthodox Christianity’s point of view which is “What must I do to be saved?” Instead, telling and writing stories encourages virtues and models human behavior between human beings. Stories help us deal with suffering, loss, and death. They relieve guilt. Stories from other people’s experiences can help us find meaning and peace and joy in life. In stories, the dead come alive; they smile, talk, sit up, and return to the world scene. For soldiers, stories bring them home in memories. We can laugh within stories that are humorous. Some stories serve us when they give us hope. Stories can resist our habit of dividing the world into us and them, friend or foe, and that is certainly cause for hope. According to Jack Mendelsohn, Unitarians mean by saving, making a spiritual force within our daily lives.

Jonalyn Snyder will provide cello music for the service.

The service will be held in person in the parlor at the Delaware County Community Arts Castle (The Arts Castle), at 190 West Winter Street in Delaware, Ohio.
